The RYA Stage 1 Start Sailing guides you from never having sailed to understanding the basics of how a boat sails and what the parts are called whilst you practice sailing, steering and stopping your own boat.

A ‘RYA Start Sailing’ book and RYA Youth Logbook are included in the course price and successful candidates will also be awarded a RYA Stage 1 Certificate.

Students generally have a boat each, though may work in pairs to start with if necessitated by weather or ability.

If you complete the syllabus successfully in the appropriate weather conditions you are awarded a certificate and can go on to consolidate your skills in a Stage 2 course
