ASCSS is recognised as a training centre by the RYA and RYA courses are run by our instructors from the David Woodhead Centre in Bristol.
The RYA courses are 16 hours, generally a weekend 9.00 to 17.00 each day. They are available for Youths (10 to 16) and Adults (over 16) and cover from Beginner to Advanced Sailing and Assistant Instructor. We also run Powerboat and Safety boat courses.
Each course includes both on the water tuition in the Floating Harbour and on shore tuition.
Stage 1 (Youths) and Level 1 (Adults) courses include the RYA Start Sailing book and the appropriate log book.
Certificates for candidates who are able to demonstrate the required ability and knowledge for the course are also included in the course cost.
Where: The David Woodhead Centre, Nova Scotia Place
When: 9.00 till 17.00 each day.
Lunch and theory sessions are in our yard or in the classroom at Pooles Wharf
Bring a snack, packed lunch, water bottle and log book if you have one.
Clothes: Arrive dressed to sail
Wetsuits are recommended, alternatively shorts, leggings or joggers, tee-shirt and fleeces.
Also, a lightweight cagoule and waterproof trousers, hat and wetboots or old trainers
Jeans, wellies, hard soled shoes and crocks are not suitable
Bring a towel and spare change of clothes.
Complete the electronic registration and health form on http://ascss.org.uk/registration for each student at least 12 hours before the course starts.
