RYA Adult Level 1 Course

2 Day Course for each Level

This course provides an introduction to sailing for novices. The course will provide a basic understanding of dinghy handling techniques and background knowledge of sailingCrewed boats Bahias and Wayfarers are used for this course. Ability and knowledge should be consolidated in Level 2.Participants attending both days may aim to attain RYA Level 1 certificate.

 

Volunteers. We welcome help from parents and interested adults for rigging launchingto helm our boats and pack them away.If you would like to become more involved please speak to the Officer of the Day and they will show you how to help. If you volunteer regularly over (approximately) a season you will be welcome on the team and we will recommend subsidised training.All our team helms are at least Level 2 standard and many are now RYA instructors.If you can already sail (rusty or current) we will assess you and advise your training path. All our helpers and instructors are volunteers, we do it because we love getting scouts and others involved in our sport.
